Scraping Your Target Audience Cold Email Setup Frequently Asked Questions

Scraping Your Target Audience on Twitter

The best way to find accounts to scrape is to really think about WHO your target audience follows on Twitter.

Here are some examples of accounts and the people that follow them:

You should look into scraping both business/company accounts and personal accounts. For example: @hubspot (business) and @dharmesh, Founder of HubSpot (personal).

4 Ways to Find Accounts to Scrape

1) Twitter search

Go to the Twitter search bar and type in a keyword that represents your niche. Click on "People" and you will see a list of possible accounts related to that keyword that you could scrape.

2) Google search

Search on Google for things like "Top eCommerce accounts on Twitter", "tech accounts to follow on Twitter", etc.

3) ChatGPT

Tell ChatGPT who your target audience is and ask it to give you a list of Twitter accounts that this audience follows.

4) Customer research

Find out what other products and services most of your customers use, then find the Twitter accounts of the companies that sell those products. For example, if you're targeting digital marketers, you could scrape @clickfunnels because it's a tool they commonly use.

We also recommend scraping your competitors' company accounts and the personal accounts of their founders and CEOs.

Keyword Optimization

Using keywords makes sure you only scrape accounts that have those keywords in their bio, name, location, website, and more. Keywords are not case-sensitive.

If you're in the B2B space, here are some good keyword examples:

Scraping Tweets

Scraping tweets is another great way to find emails on Twitter. Find tweets in your niche that have a lot of likes or retweets - these are your best targets.

Go to the Twitter search bar, type in a keyword that represents your niche, and click "Top". This shows you the top performing tweets for that keyword. Lead magnet tweets work especially well because many people retweet or like them.

To scrape a tweet, you need its tweet ID - the string of numbers at the end of the tweet URL after status/.

Cold Email Setup

Tech Stack

We recommend Instantly, Salesforge, or Smartlead to automate your cold email sending. Use discount code ILOVETWEETSCRAPER for 50% off your first month on Salesforge.

For domains, we recommend GoDaddy, Google Domains, or Namecheap. For email accounts, Google or Microsoft.

If you plan on setting up a large volume of email accounts, we recommend Inframail or InboxFlow. Both save you money and automate most of the technical setup including SPF, DMARC, DKIM, and custom domain tracking.

Domains

Only send from business email accounts (@yourcompany.com). Sending from gmail.com or outlook.com is more likely to land in spam.

To protect your main domain's reputation, create alternative domains that look similar. For example, if your main domain is tweetscraper.io, create domains like tweetscraper.com, trytweetscraper.com, gettweetscraper.com, etc. You can forward these to your main domain.

Email Accounts

Create 2-3 email accounts per domain and send only 30-50 emails per account. This keeps your reputation and deliverability healthy. To scale up, simply buy more domains and email accounts.

Warmup

Both Instantly and Smartlead have warmup features to improve deliverability. Warm up each email account for 2 weeks before sending, and keep warmup running continuously.

SPF, DKIM & DMARC Setup

If you're using your own domain, you need to set up DNS records. Here's what each one does:

You need all four for your email account to function well. Email providers like Google may scrutinize accounts that don't have these set up.

💡 Configure DKIM and SPF before DMARC, and let them authenticate messages for at least 48 hours before turning on DMARC. Use easydmarc.com to verify your DKIM and DMARC setup.
